How It Works

The teacher emails the TEKS they have covered and any specifications for the assessment they would like built.

The test will be built for the class, and an email link will be sent back to the teacher to provide to his/her students.

The students will take the assessment on any device, and the teacher emails when the students have finished.

Detailed analysis of every student on a TEK by TEK, question by question, and class as a whole is emailed back to the teacher, highlighting strengths, trouble spots, and growth targets of all who completed the assessment.

All TEKS are not created equal. In fact, some TEKS will never show up on a STAAR exam, while some are so frequent that mastering just a few can allow your students to pass. This information allows teachers to spend their time and energy on what provides the most benefit. Check out the “All TEKS Are Not Created Equal” page for examples.

It really is as simple as sending an email. The assessments are then built, and a link is emailed back to teachers to provide for their students through google classroom, email, or simply writing on the board. The assessments are built BEFORE the next day’s instruction and built to the teacher’s specifications.

Assessments can be built cyclically, and we strongly encourage teachers to adopt this approach though it is not required. For example, a teacher’s unit eight test would have 70% of the questions related to unit eight, while 30% would be randomly pulled from previously taught units and TEKS. There is no “Get it and Forget it” for students with this approach. Knowledge must be maintained throughout the year. Additionally, since the question database is populated with the same question frequency as the actual STAAR exam, the most impactful TEKS are reinforced more often providing deeper knowledge in the most important areas and therefore higher scores.

When the students finish the assessment, the teacher simply emails back and the scores, reports, and detailed analysis are emailed back to them before the next day of instruction. Each classroom utilizing this system will be given a copy of my book, “Teach Like a Superhero!” This book has been used in hundreds of school districts and service centers as a guide to help teachers more actively engage their classrooms.
